Attending events is an excellent opportunity to connect with our community and share Ruh's mission and services. Whether it's a conference, community gathering, or a virtual event, your representation is key to building trust and awareness. This guide provides scripts and tips to help you effectively communicate our values and offerings.
Setting Our Intentions
Why is being at this event important to you, and what impact do you hope to make? Imagine the event is over, and it was a huge success. What does that look like? What did we accomplish?
We are here to connect, support, and empower our community. Together, insha'Allah we can make a positive impact and spread the word about Ruh’s mission. Here are some examples of intentions and goals you could set:
Awareness - “We want at least 80% of attendees to walk away knowing about Ruh and its services.”
Engagement - “We will engage with at least 50 attendees at the booth.”
Connections - “We will collect contact information from 10 potential partners or collaborators.”
Inviting People In
This is the most important indicator of how effective our awareness building efforts can be at an event. Ideally, we'd want at least 80% or more of the audience to walk away from the event, knowing about Ruh, how we can support them, and how they can access it for them or their loved ones when they need it.
Sample Scripts To Invite People In
"As Salam Alaikum, how are you doing today?"
"As Salam Alaikum, have you heard about Ruh before?"
"As Salam Alaikum, I’m [Your Name] from Ruh. I noticed you were looking at our banner—are you interested in learning more about our therapy services?"
Tips to invite people in
Welcoming them to the booth with a warm and welcoming smile =D
Stand in front of the booth and actively invite people in. This way there is no barrier between you and the audience you are speaking with.
Sometimes you may need to even stand outside the booth and invite people in.
Keep flyers in hand to hand out as you start introducing Ruh. It gives them a visual to look at and often leads to follow up questions you can build upon.
It's important to ensure we are fully present and engaged throughout the event. This often includes not using our phones, especially when there is no one at the booth (it can get very tempting :). People often skip stopping by the booth when this is the case.
Understand the demographics of the person. Tailor your language and approach accordingly.

Closing The Conversation
Sample Scripts To Close The Conversation
Express Gratitude - “Thank you for stopping by and learning about Ruh. We’re here to support you and your community in any way we can.”
Encourage Next Steps - “If you or someone you know is looking for support, feel free to visit our website, ruhcare.com, to learn more about our services and book a free consultation.”
Invite them to share the word - You could count on your fingers visually as you share this - "We know the need is there, and alhamdulillah we took care of the faith-based barriers, the cultural barriers, the language barriers, the accessibility barriers, and the financial barrier. Usually the last barrier that remains for people is the awareness barrier, them just knowing this resource exists, and this is where we'd love to invite you to share the word insha'Allah. We never know who may need it and it could quite literally change their life."
General Tips For A Successful Event
Listen actively to their needs and respond empathetically.
Be authentic, approachable, smile and maintain an open, friendly posture.
Keep a note (on your phone) to capture their contact details - For everyone that indicated they wanted to partner, wanted more information, or would like to get in touch after the event. Most of the time when people take a business card and mention they will contact us, they often forget. It's really important to ensure you capture their name, email/phone number, and a one-liner detail instead so we can proactively reach out to them ourselves promptly after the event.
Try to ensure every person leave the booth leaves with a flyer (and a sticker) - This helps them read more info at a later time that may work best for them. We can even give them a stack if they'd like to take it and share it with others (eg: Imams, doctors, community leaders, etc).
